Swedish athlete, Mattias Sunneborn, was awarded as the European Best Veteran 2013 during the 19th EVAA General Assembly in Izmir on Tuesday, 26th August 2014.
Mattias Sunneborn was born on 27th September 1970 and in 2013 he was one of the most successful master athletes in the world.

Besides his gold medal in pentathlon in the European Veteran Championships Indoor in San Sebastian he improved his own world record of the WMA Championships in Finland (2012) by 71 points to excellent 4387 points and in long jump of men´s M40 to 7,59 metres.
During his active career Mattias Sunneborn set Swedish records in long jump for example his 8,21 metres in 1996 (outdoor) and 8,20 metres in 1995 (indoor). Furthermore he was the silver medallist of the world indoor championships in Barcelona in 1995 and one year later the winner of the European indoor championships in Stockholm.
He competed successfully in five world championships (1991, 1993, 1995, 1997, 2001) and two Olympic Games (1996, 2000).
Now Mattias Sunneborn was honoured by EMA President Kurt Kaschke and its Vice-President Jerzy Krauze as European´s best master athlete of the year 2013. Congratulations!
